The Dashrath Manjhi Institute of Labour and Employment Studies (DMILES) is an institute of the Labour Resources and Migrant Workers Welfare Department, , Government of Bihar, established to advance research, policy, and capacity building in the fields of labour, employment, social security, and industrial relations.
Named after Dashrath Manjhi, the labourer whose singular perseverance carved a path through a mountain and became a symbol of Bihar's working-class resolve — the Institute carries forward that spirit through its work with government officials, industry, trade unions, researchers, and academic institutions.
DMILES works in close collaboration with the V.V. Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI), India's premier labour research body, to conduct joint training and capacity-building programmes for stakeholders across the labour and employment ecosystem in Bihar.
Located in Patna, the Institute serves as a state-level platform for advancing inclusive and sustainable employment practices, bridging policy, research, and on-ground workforce realities.
